Regional Extension Center

Through a grant from the Ohio Health Information Partnership, the Dayton-West Central
Ohio Regional Extension Center (REC) is a partnership between
the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association and the Greater Dayton
Area Health Information Network (GDAHIN), our region's health
information exchange. The REC assists primary care providers
achieve meaningful use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
As a free service to primary care providers (family/general
practice, general internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology,
and pediatrics), the REC will assist providers with the
selection and implementation of EMRs to achieve meaningful use. In
addition, the REC will provide education and training regarding the
effective use of an EMR. Once a provider is fully operational with
their preferred EMR, the REC will also connect each provider to
GDAHIN to facilitate data sharing among hospitals, physicians,
laboratories, pharmacies, and clinical care providers.
